Building the thriving communities of the future to meet Hawaii's affordable housing challenges.
The HPHA is transforming its 70-year-old, 13 building administrative campus at 1002 School Street into mixed-use, affordable housing for seniors whose incomes range from 30% to 60% of area median income. Once completed, the project will generate 800 new units for our kupuna which will remain affordable in perpetuity.
The Kuhio Park Homes & Low-Rises are adjacent properties containing a total of 174 units of federally subsidized low-income public housing on a 22-acre densely populated diverse neighborhood within Kalihi, a community on the island of Oahu. The HPHA and The Michaels Organization are building 625 new, low-income units over 3 phases with 174 units of federally subsidized low-income public housing.
As part of our Ka Lei Momi Redevelopment Project, the HPHA and Highridge Costa are redeveloping Mayor Wright Homes, a federal public housing property. Currently, it offers 364 units, but the redevelopment plans will rebuild those 364 units (offering a one-for-one replacement of public housing units) and add 2,450 rental units, totaling 2,814 units.
